Recently our cub scouts had their Blue & Gold Banquet. I was asked to do some fondant decorations for the cakes (using my Cricut Cake machine, of course!) My friend is an awesome baker & decorator so she gets all the credit for how the cakes turned out, but since I had the machine she wanted me to cut some scout designs for them. She told me what she needed and I went to work! I don't have a lot of experience with fondant so I was a little nervous about how these cuts would turn out, but we were very pleased with the results. I am getting more and more excited about the decorating possibilities of the Cricut Cake!
The cakes were positioned on the table side by side so they were 2 14-inch square diamonds. The first cake had hand-cut fondant stars and stripes. I cut the layered circles with the fleur de lis for the middle. The second cake had hand-cut fondant blue border strips. I cut the wolf, the letters, and the fleur de lis. I was very impressed with how the wolf turned out. I wasn't sure how the machine would handle some of the intricacies of the image, but I had no trouble whatsoever! :-)
Another recent project was a birthday card for David. His birthday was on the 4th so I made a card, and it just so happened that the Cricut Circle blog was having a "Guy Stuff Challenge". These were the requirements:
The Challenge: Incorporate at least three of the following types of materials on your project. (Hardware items, stars, raw cardboard or chipboard, twine, string, paint, buttons, staples, or distressed edges)
Rules and Guidelines: Circle Blog Challenges are open to Cricut Circle Members only. You can create any type of project you would like (layout, card, tag, altered project, mini album, etc.) but your project must be newly created for this challenge and include at least 2 Cricut Image Cuts (all layers of an image count as part of the cut). You must submit a project to be entered into the Challenge Prize Drawing.
